The Moschops delivers that classic tremolo pulse without the volume drop or tone coloration you get from most trem pedals. RhPf Electronics built this around a MOSFET circuit paired with an op-amp signal path, keeping the dry tone intact while adding warmth to the modulation, so you get everything from subtle surf-style waves to choppy rhythmic stutters that cut through a mix properly.

Controls

Three knobs run the show. Rate sets the tremolo speed, from slow-moving waves to rapid stutters. Intensity is the interesting one: rather than just deepening or shallowing the effect, it blends the tremolo with your dry signal, so low settings give you subtle movement and higher settings push into deep amplitude modulation that edges toward phase-vibrato territory. Level manages the output so bypassed and effected volume stay matched. In the demo above I’ve set up sweeps for Rate and Intensity so you can hear both in isolation before hearing them combined.

How It Sounds

The presets map out the range well. Classic Tremolo parks Rate at its slowest with Intensity maxed, giving that deep, deliberate amp-style pulse. Sweet Vibration and Psych Twirl sit at faster rates with lighter intensity for a shimmering surf feel, while Aggressive Chops runs both Rate and Intensity flat out for choppy, machine-gun stutters. Swampy Modulation lands in between, a faster rate with moderate intensity for a looser, more organic wobble. Across all of them the MOSFET circuit keeps the core tone intact rather than thinning it out, which is the pedal’s whole pitch: modulation without the usual volume dip or tonal smear.

Moschops vs Walrus Audio Fundamental Tremolo

The Fundamental Tremolo is the other end of the tremolo spectrum: three waveforms (sine, square, random-step), three sliders, one switch, built for quick, obvious tremolo shapes including a glitchy random mode. The Moschops trades that waveform menu for a single, continuously variable Intensity control that morphs the character of the modulation itself, from gentle amplitude wobble into phase-vibrato-leaning territory, rather than switching between fixed shapes. If you want a pedal that gives you a menu of trem flavors fast, the Fundamental has the edge. If you want one control that lets you dial the modulation’s character continuously and keep your dry tone untouched, that’s the Moschops.

Who It’s For

This suits players who want tremolo as a texture rather than a gimmick: surf and indie players after that glassy pulse, and anyone chasing vintage Magnatone-style amp trem without hunting down the amp. The single-knob-per-function layout also makes it a good fit for pedalboards where footprint and simplicity matter, since there’s no waveform-switching or secondary menu to dig through. If you want distinct tremolo waveforms or a built-in random/glitch mode, look toward something like the Fundamental Tremolo instead. For players who want one flexible, musical trem that doesn’t color the rest of the tone, the Moschops earns its spot.
