The Pedal Baby 100 is Orange’s answer to the “where’s my dynamics?” problem that plagues most solid-state power amps. This 100-watt class A/B unit weighs just 7 pounds but feels and responds like a proper tube power section, making it perfect for pedal platform rigs or modeler setups that need some real-world thump.
What sets the Pedal Baby apart is its Class A preamp stage feeding that Class A/B output section. It’s not just clean power, it’s musical power. Orange characterizes it as “transparent, punchy power with headroom,” and that tracks: the unit adds warmth without imposing a heavy character of its own.
The panel reads left to right: Bass, Treble, Volume, then the power LED and toggle switch. Three knobs is deliberately minimal. Bass and Treble are active controls that work more like depth and presence than a conventional EQ. At noon they’re neutral, and you’ve got enough cut or boost on either end to match the Pedal Baby to whatever cabinet or IR you’re running. Volume is your master output level.

I love how this thing handles everything from clean ambient stuff to saturated leads without breaking a sweat. Unlike power amps that just make things louder, the Pedal Baby adds a subtle Orange character, nothing dramatic, just that familiar musical response that makes your pedals and preamps feel more alive.
The four board presets show how the unit behaves across very different contexts. Ambient Board sits Bass and Treble both at noon with Volume low, letting the reverb and delay do the talking. Gain Board dials in more Bass and pulls back the Treble a touch, then pushes the Volume up for the fuzz and overdrive to hit harder. Psych Board uses the same EQ shape with the JHS 424 Gain Stage out front. Shoegaze Board goes back to noon on both tone controls, neutral and open, letting the Soft Crush handle all the texture.
The Terror Stamp is the obvious thing to weigh against it. Both are designed to bring Orange-flavored power to a pedalboard rig, but they’re built around different philosophies. The Terror Stamp is a hybrid amp pedal: a real 12AX7 tube preamp driving a solid-state power section, 20 watts, with its own gain structure, Shape control, and footswitchable volumes. It colors your signal on purpose and sounds best when you let it. The Pedal Baby is a pure power amp, 100 watts, with no gain of its own, just amplification and a two-band EQ. It expects you to bring the tone from elsewhere and gets out of the way.
In practice that means the Terror Stamp wants to be a centerpiece of your rig, while the Pedal Baby is infrastructure. If you’re running a dedicated preamp like the Orange Guitar Butler or a modeler and you just need clean, authoritative power to a cabinet, the Pedal Baby is the right call. If you want the power amp to contribute crunch and sag, the Terror Stamp earns its place.
For anyone running HX Stomp, Iridium, or analog preamp pedals who misses the feel of a real amp, this nails it. It’s not trying to be a Swiss Army knife. It’s just really good at being a power amp that doesn’t suck the life out of your tone. The honest caveats: there’s no cab sim or headphone output, so you need a speaker cabinet or a separate loadbox to use it silently.
Fly-in dates, lightweight touring rigs, and pedalboard-first players who want real wattage in a small footprint are the core audience. At 3.2 kg and with two speaker outputs, it fits into pedalboard cases and covers stages and rehearsal rooms equally well.
